During the Spanish War, a young Italian journalist falls in love with a woman who is known to be a propagandist of the Communist government. She encounters her again in Marmanica, when she is captured on an enemy truck; the woman, redeemed by love, puts himself at the service of the fascists and will redeem himself by dying.
